Today?

A five year old is in critical condition after a hit and run.

My client had a 20 yr old intern.  He attended his funeral this past week.  He was hit by a car.

Another Maryland police officer is dead after a senseless act of crime.

A longtime family friend’s wife, 37 years old, just underwent emergency surgery, and found out she was riddled with cancer.

These are real scenarios that I have heard about in the last 48 hours.  I am sure you could add to this list of similar scenarios…as could I.

Why did I make the list?

Because as I did in my post NOT SO GENTLE REMINDER, I want you to slow down today and fully realize that life is indeed fragile.  We all are extremely vulnerable, yet do not live that way.  Me included.

Call someone today that you have neglected.

Fogive someone today that is deserving of your forgiveness.

Be present for that extra five minutes today with your children, spouse, coworker.

GIVE YOURSELF A GIFT TODAY (reread that post)

Control your stress better by putting things into perspective.

Be vulnerable.

Again, you could add to this list…as could I.

Look, I am not telling you to create a bucket list.  Go jump out of an airplane or ride a Harley across the country.  I am simply telling you to become more aware and settle into life a bit more today.  And, recognize that the small things we do in a day add up, big time.

A similar post could go out everyday.  Every week.  But today is today and could be the start to incrementally living a more present and meaningful life.

Lastly, remember I said that my father’s death was the worst thing that ever happened to me….and the best.  What scenario are you dealing with and missing the opportunity to go deeper and live differently?

Stay True,

Ted
